Gerling items = too hot to handle, need oven mitts [15 Dec 2006|10:11pm]

[ mood | amused ]

Two things first:
1. Does this community still have a moderator?
2. If the following isn't cool, just let me know and i'll remove it.

GUESS WHAT KIDS? I'm selling some of my Gerling merch. Am poor, need money to live. There's some very limited very exclusive stuff in there too. Have listed items and their links to the auctions on Ebay.

Gerling Bad Blood!!! promo cd. Was only ever sent out to media reps! Impossible to find unless you are lucky enough to work at a radio station and steal their CDs! Which I did not do. I swear.

Enter Space Capsule EP

Get Activated EP - limited edition

Ghost Patrol EP

Deer In You EP

Collection of RARE RARE RARE (like the steak, no wait) clippings, articles, posters etc that I've been collecting since 1999. Which is a good 7 years worth of media coverage.

Auctions end next Thurday night (21st). I don't want these to go to waste! They provided many happy memories, but like old clothes and puppies i have to give them away.

Also, is anyone considering going to the Xmas show at the Hopetoun? Am considering it, as it also features the very sexy and adorable Dappled Cities Fly, but am not sure. Has anyone been to any of the past Xmas shows?

An update from Mr Yee [09 Feb 2006|02:08pm]
If you haven’t been to www.gerling.net.au in the past 24 hours, then you haven’t seen the new website that we’ve been secretly developing. So what are you waiting for? Features abound with more to come.....

The guys had a great time on the Big Day Out tour and if you got on along there, you would have heard a few of the new tracks and possibly even been one of the thousands that downloaded the free Turning The Screws ringtone for yr phone.... If not, then stay tuned to the Gerling site over the next few weeks cos we’ll be making available the details of how to get it.

The release of the downloadable version of Turning The Screws has been delayed just slightly and will be available now from February 18th at yr fave online store. We’ll keep you updated on those details too. The clip, shot entirely in Japan in January will also be released a the same time.

The new album, 4, will be available in late March in Australia and NZ with other countries to follow shortly. In The meantime, there are some shows for the east coast to check in on. Supports TBA....

Friday 3rd - Manning Bar, Sydney Uni O-Week, NSW
Saturday 18th - Gaelic Club, Surry Hills, NSW
Fri 24th - Northcote Social Club, Northcote, Vic

Sat 1st - The Rev, Brisbane, QLD

I like the new site. It comes in 4 (four?) different languages and you can hear their new stuff. Wooh.

[ mood | disappointed ]

did anyone go to the gig @ ding dong in melb last weekend?
it was full of disasters, flooding and what-not, but that aside it was still a shitty gig and i'm really not liking the sounds of the new stuff at all.
i've loved the band for something like 7 years.
this is depressing.

GERLING NEWS... on the new album & new song.. gasp! [10 Sep 2005|10:53am]

[ mood | sleepy ]

Taken from Gerling @ myspace.com:

"Subject: L.A.!!!!!!New album
hiya all!
well now-just thought we would let everybody know-we are off to L.A. to record our new record with a lovely young producer named Ethan Young (Ryan Adams,Kings of Leon,Razorlight)...look out for a few shows we are playing back home in December..till then- have fun our fine feathered friends!

If you go to the link above you can also hear a short clip of Gerling's "new song"... I'm still having trouble deciding whether i like it or not. It sounds like something you'd hear off W.Y.T.C.T.S and it'd probably sound better live.

i asked mr.yee why gerling don't love melbourne anymore... i asked if they shall ever return to us... i told him we miss them....
he said - late this year at the earliest!
now..... what kind of answer is that???? i wanted to hear a "sure.. gerling's gonna play at your birthday kirby!" or even a "tomorrow?? no we can make it!"
oooooooooooh well!

Rolling Stone [07 Apr 2005|03:08pm]

got the new rolling stone today.
there is a thing about getlings new album in it. shockingly in the photo presser looks as if he can seem straight. he might actually be sober/what evar... oh wait hang on. he's holding the keyboard upside down.

anyways darren says "we would like to just have a more upbeat record, more of a party record - more like how we live"

also the artical states that they havnt set a date for release but promise it'll be out "sometime in 2005".

it also says that they are road testing the new stuff at their live gigs this year.. but of course that doesnt mean a thing. COS THEY NEVER PLAY MELBOURNE ANYMORE >:[ but when they do i'm going to punch Yee in his big dumb head

[25 Dec 2004|02:01pm]

Well, Merry Christmas to everyone in Gerland.

Thursday night was pretty fantastic. I don't remember the exact setlist, so this isn't in anything resembling proper order, but I know Gerling played the following tracks:

Wacked Light
Get Activated
In The City
High Jackers Manual
Blood On The Microphone
Who's Ya Daddy?
G-House Project
Deepfryer (Olé!)
Ghost Patrol

Encore: Death To The Apple Gerls (!!!)

I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a couple of tracks. I was listening to Gerling all the way on the train to get me in the mood, until I arrived at the 'dale around 7pm, at which point I decided to wander off across a canal somewhere and sit under a tree listening to more Gerling 'til around 7:30pm. That kind of helped blur my memory of what was played.

But how could you forget Death To The Apple Gerls?

My favourite song, barring possibly Windmills And Birdbaths. Thanks so much to Gerling for playing it! It was the one song I wanted to hear above all others.
It was only the second time I've seen them live, too. Fate seems to have crossed me at every other gig the last couple of years.

Although they had promised several new songs, I was probably happier hearing DttAG. The one new song they *did* play was very nice and uplifting.
If Summer Lake Rewind is their attempt at folk, the newie is their attempt at reggae. I loved Darren's slow-motion-Ashlee-Simpson-hoe-down-dance.
Lyrics contain something about "lightning never strikes the same place twice". The title *was* mentioned, but it was spoken softly, and drowned out by the intro. Did anyone catch it?

Hello also to Gerling's No. 1 Stalker, who took it upon himself to keep me company, as I apparently looked lonely leaning against the bar by the speakers all by myself. However, my right ear and a portion of my spine have yet to forgive me for it.
It did mean I was able to take a spot in front of Darren throughout the gig, though.
I've never had a guitar shoved in my face so often in one night...

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves immensely, and my condolences to those of you with colds.
Them Summer colds are the worst.

alrighty dead community, who's going to the xmas show on thursday night? and who went to dance with them at homebake?

wouldnt you know it, wednesday night i had the sniffles, thursday morning a full blown cold. i went anyway, but i felt like i was going to topple over. damn you fate! i had lots of fun though, dancing actually helped. waiting in between songs was a killer. and for the first time ever, i was glad their encore wasnt long, cause i wanted to go and be snotty in bed.
does anyone remember where their new guitar tech ryan is from?
he used to play in the mad dash, i'd been wondering what happened to them.
